Reliability through simplicity
The electronic ignition system, is designed around one single design parameter:
Reliability.
When it comes to reliability, there is only one guaranteed way to avoid failure modes in a system, and that is by removing unnecessary components from the design – or in other words: Maximize simplicity.
That is why the electronic ignition system by Drino does not have manifold pressure feedback, or adjustable advance angles or anything else.
What it DOES have is super simple, rock-solid ignition performance as you know it from a standard magneto – except this time, it is based on maintenance free solid-state electronics, just as you know it from any modern petrol car.
Easy Installation
The electronic ignition system comes in a box that contains all components needed for a 1:1 exchange with a standard magneto installation. In other words, it is a one-stop-shop package that will supply you with all the parts you need to make the installation.
A typical installation of the ignition system is a one-day job, provided you have basic workshop facilities and hand tools available.
Maintenance Free
As the ignition system is based on a contact-free sensor, and solid state electronics with no moveable parts, the only wear parts of the entire ignition system is the spark plugs, which should be replaced once in a while. Otherwise, once installed, there is no need for adjusting or inspecting the system as part of planned maintenance.
Advantages:
- Rock solid electronic ignition system
- No wear parts
- Much cheaper automotive spark plugs
- Tailored spark advance for your engine
- Maintenance free
- Smoother idle and less vibrations
- Automatic integrated fail-safe mode
- Mechanical decoupling
- Lighter than a magneto
- Comes in a box, that contains a kit for a one-to-one exchange with a conventional magneto. – all needed parts in one box.
The box includes:
- Ignition controller
- Solid-state ignition coil
- Contact-free magnetic pick-up sensor
- Custom made ignition harness
- High quality flip-switches
- Power- and sensor cables
- Status indicator LED
- Mini-Fuse
- Spark Plugs
- Installation and operation manual.

Demo video of the automatic safety mode
The automatic safety mode engages if one of the trigger-magnets are lost, or if the dual sensor element becomes faulty. To indicate this for the pilot, a status indicator LED lights up.
